Electricity Derivatives on the Power Exchange
Electricity derivatives for producers, sellers, and consumers
Power-Deriva executes electricity derivative trades on your behalf, cost-effectively and reliably. With our service, you don’t need to stay on standby, as trading takes place whenever the market is open. We act as your intermediary, executing transactions on the power exchange. Our strengths lie in continuous market access and an extensive network. We identify the best moments to trade and find the right counterparties quickly—so you don’t need to spend your time monitoring the market or executing trades.
All trades are carried out from start to finish in accordance with your mandate, fully compliant with regulations and Best Execution principles. We also actively participate in industry advocacy (including Nasdaq Clearing Risk Council, Nordic Association of Electricity Traders, and the Energy Industry’s Financial Regulation Working Group).
Bilateral Trading
Bilateral trading with derivative and physical price agreements
Take advantage of Power-Deriva’s network and expertise in bilateral electricity market trading—working with trusted counterparties and at market prices. We offer the opportunity to engage in bilateral trading with participants under our framework agreements. As your intermediary, we execute trades as derivative contracts, which can be either cash-settled or settled with physical delivery.
Our extensive counterparty network and experience with various market players make it easy to find suitable trading partners. We also assist with establishing framework agreements and managing trading procedures.
Thanks to our broad exchange access and network, we continuously monitor market price levels to ensure that you enter competitive and up-to-date agreements. Bilateral trading also provides flexibility, allowing you to manage risks using non-standard products, such as profile or peak products. All bilateral trades are EMIR-reported by either Power-Deriva or the counterparty—seamlessly and in full regulatory compliance.
Day-Ahead (DA) Market
Day-Ahead market: reliable electricity trading, every day of the year
Power-Deriva’s DA trading service frees up your resources, enhances efficiency, and brings predictability to your electricity trading in Nord Pool. The Day-Ahead market (DA) is a central part of electricity trading for producers, retailers, and industrial companies alike. Our DA service is designed for companies trading on Nord Pool, either as full members or as client members through Power-Deriva. Concurrently, you’ll get comprehensive support for onboarding, contract management, and service implementation.
Trading is executed on your behalf. We offer flexible options for bid creation: you can either provide the necessary data directly to Power-Deriva’s Energy Management System (EMS), or we can generate consumption or production forecasts that serve as the basis for your bids. The finalized bids are submitted to Nord Pool, and all results are accessible through the EMS.
Trading is handled reliably and efficiently on a daily basis. You can free your resources from market monitoring, while Power-Deriva takes care of everything: membership models, bid preparation, trading, and reporting.

Intraday (ID) Market and Algorithmic Trading
Real-time electricity trading—at algorithm speed, under expert supervision
Power-Deriva’s Intraday (ID) trading service executes electricity trades on Nord Pool’s intraday markets—reliably, around the clock, every day of the year. The service helps manage imbalance and enables price-based trading of flexible resources.
ID trading is primarily handled by our trading robot, which operates in real time and keeps your bids on the market at the best possible price. The algorithm supports various trading strategies and can automatically adjust its logic in response to changing conditions—for example, based on trading needs, DA prices, or market forecasts.
Power-Deriva’s 24/7 control room monitors intraday trading and algorithmic operations, and, if preferred, trades can also be executed manually. Over the years, our system has proven to be an efficient and reliable tool for real-time intraday trading.
Reserve and Balancing Power Markets
Reserve and balancing power markets: turning flexibility into market value
Power-Deriva’s reserve trading service seamlessly integrates your production and consumption assets into power system balancing, efficiently and expertly.
Our reserve and balancing power market service is designed for electricity producers, retailers, aggregators, industrial companies, and other participants with flexible production or consumption assets. A contract with Fingrid is required, and we provide full support for its implementation.
All reserve trading is carried out on your behalf. We jointly agree on bid creation—you can either send your data to Power-Deriva’s Energy Management System (EMS) or use Power-Deriva’s consumption or production forecasts as a basis for bids. Flexibility options can also be optimized for market participation.
We submit bids to reserve market trading systems and report the results back through the EMS. Activation signals related to some reserves are also available in Power-Deriva’s system, ensuring seamless execution and real-time responsiveness.
